Review: Bobbi Brown Lip Color

Hi friends!

My aunt gave me this lipstick for Christmas, well more I was with her in Sephora and looking at it so she bought it for my gift but I still got it for Christmas! It took me probably 12 different swatches to decide which color I wanted (this is among different brand though, not just Bobbi Brown) and I ended up choosing it in 32 Rum Raisin.

The packaging is GORGEOUS. I partly chose this lipstick for it’s look and it’s brand name, since I’ve never really had a more high end lipstick. I don’t even own an M.A.C. lipsticks! Not sure if I’ve made a blog post about them, but I’ve only used Rimmel Kate Moss 107 and 08 (I think it’s 08, I don’t have it on me right now, ah!) which are great, but I needed to branch out a bit, y’know. On me, it’s a lighter than I thought it would be after swatching it which you can see below. Maybe I just didn’t put on enough on my lips, but it definitely looks darker on both the stick, the swatch, and on the website.

It’s pretty creamy upon first application with good pigmentation in my opinion, it definitely settles a little drier, not drying though–difference there. I don’t know that this is supposed to be a matte formula?? (I’m checking right now). Ah, okay, yes so I’m looking at the website now and it is described to be a creamy, semi-matte (yay Hannah! look at you with your make-up knowledge). But yes, referring back to what I said about it being lighter on me, I believe it’s one of those lipsticks that you can layer on and it will look alright with each layer. It isn’t moisturizing though, so put your chapstick or lip balm or whatever under before you apply it! Great value for my money (or my aunt’s money) if I do say so myself.

Recommend lip products below! I’d love to hear from you. ūüôā

SacconeJoly Calendar – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi friends!

I am so excited to start off 2016 with my Sacconejoly calendar!!…and you all of course! Unfortunately their calendar is not for sale anymore, they closed up shop in early November, so you couldn’t get your own copy but y’know maybe we could experience it together…through me!

This was supposed to be a “welcome 2016” post but I thought showing off my calendar would be more fun. But this is welcoming the new first page of 2016!! It counts right?? Let’s pretend it does.

I hope you’re all excited for the content to come because I know I am!! Thank you all again so much for being a part of my 2015, and I know that we’ll have an even bigger and better journey in 2016. Happy New Year!!

P.S. I almost wrote 2015 there. Oops.

Thank You 2015

Hello once again friends!

I know this is a late post but I figured I would post it closer to the end of the year.

2015 has been such an unforgettable and crucial year in my life and I have had the best time (and the worst time but we won’t talk about that). My last year of high school, having my own students to teach and conduct in concerts, Disney World competitions, DISNEY WORLD, prom, graduation, my 18th birthday, starting college, CHRISTMAS….even though that happens every year, BUT CHRISTMAS! I don’t know how 2016 may top all of that.

It has been a wonderful year for this blog as well and even though I’m still not the most consistent blogger, I do believe I have definitely stepped it up in terms of content and amount this year compared to last. I’m so thankful for all the old followers keeping up with my posts and I’m so thankful for all the new ones! I hope you have enjoyed the content that I have put out this year, I am already planning a bunch of posts to start 2015 off with! So many exciting things coming up but I won’t reveal them just yet ūüėČ Probably because if I slack, then I don’t want to say that I’m going to do something and then not do it! I will definitely be more conscious of that in the upcoming year.

One of my new year’s resolutions, I guess. I’m not really a person who does those type of things, but maybe if you say the things you want to do out loud, it motivates you a tiny bit more to do them. My resolutions for 2016 probably involve posting more content, but not just quantity while lacking quality—WE’RE GONNA HAVE BOTH!!! (Hopefully). Also exercise. Need to lose that Christmas dinner weight! But just to be healthier and stronger in general I suppose. Also to vlog more regularly and maybe actually put those videos on public! They’re all on private right now and I don’t exactly edit and upload them regularly, but the content exists for me to watch whenever so that’s alright.

I’ve rambled too much I think (as usual). Tell me what new year’s resolutions you guys have for 2016! What have you most enjoyed about 2015? Do you have any favorite memories from past years, or favorites you’re hoping to make in a future year? Life is pretty crazy and unpredictable but it’s nice to daydream, right?

Thank you all so much for the fulfillment you have given me this year. The numbers aren’t huge but I’m so proud of them either way, even when it’s just one view for a whole day. Those stats bars are so crazy to me. I promise that 2016 will be even better, see you in the new year! -blaring horns and confetti and cheers-

Christmas Mugs | 3 days ’til Xmas!

Hi friends!

Happy first day of Winter! I hope you are having a wonderful Christmastime! Everyone knows Winter and Christmas are filled with lots of warm holiday drinks, so why not bring out all the Christmas themed mugs?! Mugs are also a great gift to give to someone because let’s be honest, you can never really have enough mugs. I’m pretty sure last Christmas (I gave you my heart), practically everyone who gave my choir teacher (including me) a Christmas gift, included a mug somewhere in there.

So here are a couple ideas to get you in the mood! Or maybe it’s mostly just me sharing my Christmas mug collection??? I could have sworn I had more though…

Baking Christmas Gingerbread Cookies!

Hi friends!

Yesterday was pretty busy and filled with Christmas shopping so here’s to 5 more days until Christmas!

Last night I baked some Christmas cookies because I have never actually baked cookies in my entire 18 years of living, oddly enough. I do lots of other baking! Just not cookies haha. I followed this recipe, but I’ll also list the ingredients and steps below for those of you too lazy to click the link!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves (note: I actually didn’t have any of this and my cookies still tasted good so you could do without this if you want!)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 8 tbsp (1 stick) of unsalted butter; room temperature
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening; room temperature
  • 1/2 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup of unsulfured molasses
  • 1 large egg

Steps:

Sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, salt and pepper into a medium sized bowl and put aside for later.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and vegetable shortening with a mixer at a high speed for about 1 minute when they’re¬†well combined. Then, add in the light brown sugar and beat until it is light and brown in texture and color for about 2 minutes and then add in the molasses and egg.
Gradually add the flour mixture from before until it makes a stiff dough.
Divide the dough into two thick plastic disks and refrigerate for about 3 hours (I actually did 2 hours because I was on a time crunch so that works too!)

This is actually where I started preheating the oven so make sure you put the racks on the top and bottom thirds of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Once you remove the disks from the fridge, leave them to sit for about 10 minutes until they are room temperature and able to be worked with without cracking. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and sprinkle some flour on the dough (and your rolling pin if you’re using one!). Roll out the dough until it is about 1/8 inch thick and then cut away with your cookie cutters! The website says to place them about an inch apart but you can do a little closer if need be, they don’t grow that much.

I made about 30 cookies with this recipe and my specific cookie cutters (which are actually from Hobby Lobby) but the recipe says it makes about 3 dozen so it could vary depending on your cookie cutter!

I had fun, so I hope you guys enjoy making Christmas cookies!!

7 Days Until Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!!

Ahem, sorry.

Happy 7 days until Christmas friends!!

Last time I said I would do a Blogmas type thing. I did not realize how busy I would be with the end of the semester, so now that it’s over…here I am!! I also said that I had a bunch of posts queued up to write about, but since my friend is doing all Christmas videos the week leading up to Christmas, I am going to do all Christmas¬†blogs the week leading up to Christmas!! I’m so original aren’t I?

This is just a little introduction to the week so here’s a couple of photos that I have been posting on Instagram! If there’s anything you want me to specifically write about, leave it in the comments below. There will be a Christmas wrapping idea post in case some of you want to get creative this year! Not to brag but…I do get complimented on my gift wrapping abilities haha. See you guys tomorrow with a Christmas post (can’t you tell I haven’t decided what it is yet! how lame of me.)

Christmas Time Is Here

Hi friends!

Happy December! I am aware that I am a day late but I have been really busy and ill-prepared so here I am instead. I originally wanted to do a Vlogmas type thing but for this blog…so I guess Blogmas? That probably will not work out exactly the way I want it to (it already hasn’t haha!) so here is this instead!

IMG_5470

If you follow me on Instagram however, I upload Christmas themed photos everyday! I have just shared the photo from day one with you ūüôā So last year I wrote a post about a Christmas tree with silver ornaments titled “I’m Dreaming… of a Silver Christmas” or something of the sort, this tree on the other hand is my tiny Christmas tree from Hobby Lobby! He (yes, I have decided that my tree is a “he” named Winston) cost me $4 because Hobby Lobby was having a 50% sale on all Christmas stuff at the end of November. Most of the baubles and the star are from Michael’s Craft Store, which I got for 40% I believe; the larger baubles are from HomeGoods.

There will be more posts but not all of them Christmas themed however because I want to talk about the stuff that I have gotten over the Black Friday weekend and write some reviews! I got to watch Mockingjay Part 2 with my aunt on Thanksgiving (we had Thanksgiving lunch, don’t ask why), and got a PlayStation 4 as well as Battlefront, Assassin’s Creed Unity and UNTIL DAWN! I have been waiting a very long time (2 months, long time right?) to play this game and have watched lots of videos and read so much about this game and its lore so I am very excited to play it! Hopefully I’ll have those posts up for you soon!

I’ll see you guys next time, happy Christmas!

Pivotal Living Activity & Sleep Tracker

Hi friends,

Just¬†a quick note that this is definitely not a sponsored post (not important enough for that yet! Lol, I wish) so everything I’m writing is most definitely my own opinion and experience!

So as most people are doing, I have also chosen to be healthier by drinking more water and just staying active everyday. I don’t work out or follow healthy eating diets (which I probably should but let’s be honest, those things are hard!) and there is definitely no substitute for those things but I believe that you can transition into that stage by doing at least 30 to 60 minutes of active time everyday and drinking lots of water.

Most people are also choosing to use a FitBit in their routine to track their sleeping patterns, their heart rate, their step count, blah blah blah, but looking at those prices . . . not everyone can afford that!¬†Certainly not me, despite my current efforts to save up for one on black Friday! Fortunately for me, my dad attempted to get into this healthy phase not super long ago, but instead of investing in a FitBit he purchased this Pivotal Living band. He doesn’t use it anymore, so I took advantage of it!

You know what the best part is? The price. $12. No, I did not miss a zero or anything—I did in fact say¬†twelve dollars. Now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “if this thing is basically supposed to do what a FitBit can do for only $12, it can’t be that good, right?” WRONG! I will be honest, I don’t have that much experience with a FitBit, but after my own bit of research there isn’t toooo¬†much of a difference between this little guy and the cheapest and smallest $99 FitBit besides the heart rate tracker!

The Pivotal Living Band works in conjunction with the Pivotal Living App in the App Store for iOS users as well as the Android equivalent (sorry, I don’t know what it’s called!) but it is possible to use it without the app just to track steps, distance travelled, and calories burned. Using the app however creates a much more detailed experience, allowing you to set personal goals for yourself in terms of water consumption, active time, sleep time, etc.

In the photos above, I have taken screenshots of the app, and this is basically what I see everyday. Quick note, I recognize that my sleep says 2 hours and 20 minutes—it’s not that this band does not actually track sleep, it does, and it does it very well! I’m just not that great at remember to press the button when I’m about to fall asleep, haha. I’ve definitely had better luck but it is pretty accurate. I’ll leave the link that explains how it tracks everything below. The water consumption is usually measured in ounces but because I have a water bottle that measures the water inside in centiliters, I just converted it to the metric system (which is also why my weight is in kg and not lbs).

If you definitely want to try and get into this FitBit lifestyle, but don’t know if you want to splurge that $100+ for something you may not use all the time, this is a really good alternative. I have used this for 6 days straight so far which is really a record for me, I don’t usually wear watches or any sort of jewelry because they feel like hassles but sometimes I even forget that it’s on there! When I took my Calc exam, there was no clock in the room and I remember thinking to myself “Darn it! I wish I wore a watch, then I could track my time”. Lo and behold, I did in fact have a watch, but I completely forgot! The Pivotal Living band keeps the time as well, so even better!

I hope this blog post was helpful to any of you! I’m trying really hard to think of good content to write about within all my college madness (I register for spring semester classes next week, eek!), so hopefully I’ll get back to you soon!

A Night at the Symphony

Hello!……(it’s me)

Just joking around, hi friends!!

It’s been awhile but I’ve done some exciting things this past weekend that I can finally write posts about!! So on the 7th of this month, it was college night for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ! Thanks to my honors program at Rutgers, I was able to get free tickets as well as free VIP entry to an after party filled with performances by local a cappella groups! Granted the tickets were only $10, but free is free, which is great in my opinion!

Saturday night at 8 PM I had the pleasure of seeing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony featuring conductor Jacques Lacombe and the NJSO as well as the Westminster Symphonic Choir! In addition to an amazing orchestra and choir, soloists Barbara Shirvis (soprano), Elizabeth Bishop (mezzo-soprano), Jonathan Boyd (tenor), and Stephen Powell (baritone) were featured in the fourth movement. Amazing music all around from everyone! There was one specific Soprano who looked incredibly happy and excited to be there so shout out to you, whoever you are, for an entertaining performance! I guess facial expression really is a nice extra when it comes to choral performance!

This was actually my first ever attendance to a full symphony and I definitely don’t regret it. I expected to go through the first three movements hoping and waiting for the choral singing to come in but surprisingly I wasn’t distracted at all! I loved all three beginning movements including the prelude played before the work (Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral). Stephen Powell was definitely one of¬†the best baritone’s I have ever heard live and I even got to sing happy birthday to him at the after party, haha!

Not to mention I got to watch my favorite university a cappella group, Casual Harmony, perform! Casual Harmony is our only award-winning all-male a cappella group featuring no music majors (but they’re amazing regardless! best group hands down). My friend is their music director and he arranges 98% of their music and he’s great so check their videos out on YouTube! I’ll link their channel at the bottom of this post.

AND I ALSO GOT TO SEE ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL?!?! It’s weird to say that because we were just in high school months ago but it feels so long ago at the same time. He goes to TCNJ (Joe, if you read my other post back from the first day of September) and I had no intention of seeing him that night but he too was at the after party! Great time overall yay!
