Exploring Somerville, New Jersey

Hi friends!!

Today I made the extra difficult task of making plans to hang out with my friend, Sabrina! I’m not say that it’s hard to hang out with her, but if you’re a person who finds it difficult to find the courage in yourself to hang out with other people or just go out of your way to make plans with others, then you understand my problems haha. This summer I’ve been trying extra hard to get myself more comfortable in these types of situations—don’t get me wrong, I’m often alright when it comes to hanging out with people, at least one-on-one (I struggle with group interaction still)—but it’s sort of the lead up to hanging out. I almost wanted to just reschedule because we couldn’t decide what to do and all my fear alerts were just going off (LOL sorry Sabrina if you read this!) but I pushed myself through anyway and we ended up having a good time exploring!

So these are some of my best photos of the day, I hope you’ll pull yourself off that computer and find the gems in your area! Also keep in mind that none of these photos have been edited, I haven’t put the raw images through photoshop, I just took the JPEGs (nobody judge me LOL). I recognize that your shot can look so much better with much more work put into them because obviously hard work pays off, but sometimes I’m still astounded by the color in some photos, as well as the lack thereof. Sometimes the photo looks really gray and I think that’s kind of cool! In the future I’ll learn how to do the photography thing better, but for now…

P.S. I’m really picky so that’s why there’s only like 6 photos LOL. I’ll take 40 photos and only be satisfied with 6, it happens so much!

Disney World: Epcot!!

Hi friends!!

It’s Friday yet again and I miss Disney so much ūüė¶ College life is going on as normal¬†unfortunately, but the memory of these photos live on (that sounded really cheesy didn’t it?) Thankfully I had already gone to Disney World with my high school music program in April of 2015, so I knew exactly what I wanted to see and where I wanted to go! There are so many pictures that it’s hard to pick a few but hopefully I can make you feel like I actually went to these countries and not just Epcot!

I threw in a picture of me and the bae….MAX!! Baymax is a brand new addition to Epcot (thank god!) and they’re going to expand his little photo area to a whole San Fransokyo, it’s going to be great! Sorry it’s not as many photos as Harry Potter World but I am ready to impress for Magic Kingdom (I haven’t actually looked at the photos in awhile so I’m hoping that I can live up to my words!!)

Be ready for Magic Kingdom photos next yay!

Harry Potter World!!

Hello friends!

I realize that I am two posts behind. Friday the 15th was busy because it was the day before my plane ride back home from Florida, and the day after was exhausting. Then this past Friday the 22nd, blizzard time for the East Coast!! My internet was on the frizz so even though it’s still going on now…let’s attempt to post this anyway.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is probably the highlight of Universal Studios…okay not probably, it¬†is the highlight. I would walk through the rest of the park and see a normal crowd of people but once you hit HP, dear god!! So many people!! But you know what, I didn’t even care all that much because you know that no one’s really there for the crowd, everyone is there to experience this little world based on a few books Jo Rowling wrote. It was incredible and since I went surrounding the death of the beloved Alan Rickman, everyone was so thoughtful about the current situation and it was just great. I’ll stop talking about my sappy feelings and include my pictures–

P.S. there will be a post for all my Disney World photos.

SacconeJoly Calendar – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi friends!

I am so excited to start off 2016 with my Sacconejoly calendar!!…and you all of course! Unfortunately their calendar is not for sale anymore, they closed up shop in early November, so you couldn’t get your own copy but y’know maybe we could experience it together…through me!

This was supposed to be a “welcome 2016” post but I thought showing off my calendar would be more fun. But this is welcoming the new first page of 2016!! It counts right?? Let’s pretend it does.

I hope you’re all excited for the content to come because I know I am!! Thank you all again so much for being a part of my 2015, and I know that we’ll have an even bigger and better journey in 2016. Happy New Year!!

Christmas Mugs | 3 days ’til Xmas!

Hi friends!

Happy first day of Winter! I hope you are having a wonderful Christmastime! Everyone knows Winter and Christmas are filled with lots of warm holiday drinks, so why not bring out all the Christmas themed mugs?! Mugs are also a great gift to give to someone because let’s be honest, you can never really have enough mugs. I’m pretty sure last Christmas (I gave you my heart), practically everyone who gave my choir teacher (including me) a Christmas gift, included a mug somewhere in there.

So here are a couple ideas to get you in the mood! Or maybe it’s mostly just me sharing my Christmas mug collection??? I could have sworn I had more though…

Baking Christmas Gingerbread Cookies!

Hi friends!

Yesterday was pretty busy and filled with Christmas shopping so here’s to 5 more days until Christmas!

Last night I baked some Christmas cookies because I have never actually baked cookies in my entire 18 years of living, oddly enough. I do lots of other baking! Just not cookies haha. I followed this recipe, but I’ll also list the ingredients and steps below for those of you too lazy to click the link!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves (note: I actually didn’t have any of this and my cookies still tasted good so you could do without this if you want!)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 8 tbsp (1 stick) of unsalted butter; room temperature
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable shortening; room temperature
  • 1/2 cup of packed light brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup of unsulfured molasses
  • 1 large egg

Steps:

Sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, salt and pepper into a medium sized bowl and put aside for later.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and vegetable shortening with a mixer at a high speed for about 1 minute when they’re¬†well combined. Then, add in the light brown sugar and beat until it is light and brown in texture and color for about 2 minutes and then add in the molasses and egg.
Gradually add the flour mixture from before until it makes a stiff dough.
Divide the dough into two thick plastic disks and refrigerate for about 3 hours (I actually did 2 hours because I was on a time crunch so that works too!)

This is actually where I started preheating the oven so make sure you put the racks on the top and bottom thirds of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Once you remove the disks from the fridge, leave them to sit for about 10 minutes until they are room temperature and able to be worked with without cracking. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and sprinkle some flour on the dough (and your rolling pin if you’re using one!). Roll out the dough until it is about 1/8 inch thick and then cut away with your cookie cutters! The website says to place them about an inch apart but you can do a little closer if need be, they don’t grow that much.

I made about 30 cookies with this recipe and my specific cookie cutters (which are actually from Hobby Lobby) but the recipe says it makes about 3 dozen so it could vary depending on your cookie cutter!

I had fun, so I hope you guys enjoy making Christmas cookies!!

7 Days Until Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!!

Ahem, sorry.

Happy 7 days until Christmas friends!!

Last time I said I would do a Blogmas type thing. I did not realize how busy I would be with the end of the semester, so now that it’s over…here I am!! I also said that I had a bunch of posts queued up to write about, but since my friend is doing all Christmas videos the week leading up to Christmas, I am going to do all Christmas¬†blogs the week leading up to Christmas!! I’m so original aren’t I?

This is just a little introduction to the week so here’s a couple of photos that I have been posting on Instagram! If there’s anything you want me to specifically write about, leave it in the comments below. There will be a Christmas wrapping idea post in case some of you want to get creative this year! Not to brag but…I do get complimented on my gift wrapping abilities haha. See you guys tomorrow with a Christmas post (can’t you tell I haven’t decided what it is yet! how lame of me.)

Christmas Time Is Here

Hi friends!

Happy December! I am aware that I am a day late but I have been really busy and ill-prepared so here I am instead. I originally wanted to do a Vlogmas type thing but for this blog…so I guess Blogmas? That probably will not work out exactly the way I want it to (it already hasn’t haha!) so here is this instead!

IMG_5470

If you follow me on Instagram however, I upload Christmas themed photos everyday! I have just shared the photo from day one with you ūüôā So last year I wrote a post about a Christmas tree with silver ornaments titled “I’m Dreaming… of a Silver Christmas” or something of the sort, this tree on the other hand is my tiny Christmas tree from Hobby Lobby! He (yes, I have decided that my tree is a “he” named Winston) cost me $4 because Hobby Lobby was having a 50% sale on all Christmas stuff at the end of November. Most of the baubles and the star are from Michael’s Craft Store, which I got for 40% I believe; the larger baubles are from HomeGoods.

There will be more posts but not all of them Christmas themed however because I want to talk about the stuff that I have gotten over the Black Friday weekend and write some reviews! I got to watch Mockingjay Part 2 with my aunt on Thanksgiving (we had Thanksgiving lunch, don’t ask why), and got a PlayStation 4 as well as Battlefront, Assassin’s Creed Unity and UNTIL DAWN! I have been waiting a very long time (2 months, long time right?) to play this game and have watched lots of videos and read so much about this game and its lore so I am very excited to play it! Hopefully I’ll have those posts up for you soon!

I’ll see you guys next time, happy Christmas!

Pivotal Living Activity & Sleep Tracker

Hi friends,

Just¬†a quick note that this is definitely not a sponsored post (not important enough for that yet! Lol, I wish) so everything I’m writing is most definitely my own opinion and experience!

So as most people are doing, I have also chosen to be healthier by drinking more water and just staying active everyday. I don’t work out or follow healthy eating diets (which I probably should but let’s be honest, those things are hard!) and there is definitely no substitute for those things but I believe that you can transition into that stage by doing at least 30 to 60 minutes of active time everyday and drinking lots of water.

Most people are also choosing to use a FitBit in their routine to track their sleeping patterns, their heart rate, their step count, blah blah blah, but looking at those prices . . . not everyone can afford that!¬†Certainly not me, despite my current efforts to save up for one on black Friday! Fortunately for me, my dad attempted to get into this healthy phase not super long ago, but instead of investing in a FitBit he purchased this Pivotal Living band. He doesn’t use it anymore, so I took advantage of it!

You know what the best part is? The price. $12. No, I did not miss a zero or anything—I did in fact say¬†twelve dollars. Now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “if this thing is basically supposed to do what a FitBit can do for only $12, it can’t be that good, right?” WRONG! I will be honest, I don’t have that much experience with a FitBit, but after my own bit of research there isn’t toooo¬†much of a difference between this little guy and the cheapest and smallest $99 FitBit besides the heart rate tracker!

The Pivotal Living Band works in conjunction with the Pivotal Living App in the App Store for iOS users as well as the Android equivalent (sorry, I don’t know what it’s called!) but it is possible to use it without the app just to track steps, distance travelled, and calories burned. Using the app however creates a much more detailed experience, allowing you to set personal goals for yourself in terms of water consumption, active time, sleep time, etc.

In the photos above, I have taken screenshots of the app, and this is basically what I see everyday. Quick note, I recognize that my sleep says 2 hours and 20 minutes—it’s not that this band does not actually track sleep, it does, and it does it very well! I’m just not that great at remember to press the button when I’m about to fall asleep, haha. I’ve definitely had better luck but it is pretty accurate. I’ll leave the link that explains how it tracks everything below. The water consumption is usually measured in ounces but because I have a water bottle that measures the water inside in centiliters, I just converted it to the metric system (which is also why my weight is in kg and not lbs).

If you definitely want to try and get into this FitBit lifestyle, but don’t know if you want to splurge that $100+ for something you may not use all the time, this is a really good alternative. I have used this for 6 days straight so far which is really a record for me, I don’t usually wear watches or any sort of jewelry because they feel like hassles but sometimes I even forget that it’s on there! When I took my Calc exam, there was no clock in the room and I remember thinking to myself “Darn it! I wish I wore a watch, then I could track my time”. Lo and behold, I did in fact have a watch, but I completely forgot! The Pivotal Living band keeps the time as well, so even better!

I hope this blog post was helpful to any of you! I’m trying really hard to think of good content to write about within all my college madness (I register for spring semester classes next week, eek!), so hopefully I’ll get back to you soon!

Blog Recommendations For The Budget-Friendly

Hi friends!

College is starting up and what are students mainly known for? Being broke! Even though I realize that that is an exaggeration and most college students are not entirely flat out broke, money can be tight when you’re young and new to providing for yourself. So¬†I’ve been reading a bunch of different blogs lately about being budget-friendly and¬†being more organized because I just find those things comforting. But this is also for my fellow collegiate readers who may need the help!

1. The Budget Mama
This woman has so many posts about saving money and earning quick side-cash and being cost-effective and all those types of things. Her posts are so helpful, as well as visually pleasing and even though I’m not in her position as a stay-at-home mother, or even mother in general, her posts definitely give me a lot of ideas on how to be friendly with my budget. It’s nice to know that there are so many options to save money as I’m entering my “broke-college-student” days and I’m hoping you can find comfort in her posts as well so I will link one of her posts that have been most helpful to me! ūüôā
Developing a Make or Break Price – Using a Price Book

2. Thirty Handmade Days
You can see that I have a budget-friendly theme going on here and that’s exactly what Thirty Handmade Days promotes. I’m in love with her binder posts that help get you into saving and keeping track of how much you’re actually spending and the fact that she encourages her kids to do the same is great. She has these binders, “School Binders”, “Accountability Binders”, that help her kids grasp the concept of saving money and staying on top of their work at a young age which I think is¬†incredibly smart. She also has a post entitled the 1 Year Savings Challenge that draws out a chart of money to save throughout the entire year and it’s actually really interesting and helpful because through it, the amount you could save could buy you a plane ticket somewhere, which I definitely want haha. I’m rambling and not summarizing very well again, so I’ll just link you two of my favorite posts by her haha.
5 Ways to Get Your Budget Under Control
1 Year Savings Challenge Printables

I hope that you’ll check them out and be inspired to be up-to-date with your budget and not overspend when you don’t need to!

Also, one of my best friends is moving into his dorm today at the University of the Arts and I will be there to help so that’s where I am today! It’s in Philadelphia, PA so he’ll be about 1-2 hours away and I won’t see him everyday anymore which will be depressing but we’re all going on our future journeys now ūüė¶ To lighten the mood, check out his Soundcloud (I recommend Blame, he made it for his Senior Project in high school)! He’s going to college for Music Production woo!

I’ll see you guys in the next post. ūüôā
